The Australian Government offers a number of financial incentives for employers to hire eligible jobseekers. One of these is the Youth Bonus Wage Subsidy.
What is the Youth Bonus Wage Subsidy?
Incentive Employment can help you gain access to the Youth Bonus Wage Subsidy when you hire eligible job seekers who are 15 to 24 years of age. This incentive is valued up to $10,000 (including GST), with payments made to you over a six-month period at intervals that you are free to negotiate. If you wish, you can receive up to 40 percent of the total wage subsidy within four weeks of the job starting.
What jobs can I offer?
Your job offerings may be either full-time, part-time or casual, and must also be:
- for a minimum of 20 hours per week, averaged over the initial six-month period
- compliant with employment standards (for example, meeting the minimum award wage).
The exclusions are few and reasonable. The job you offer must not:
- displace an existing employee
- be a commission-based, subcontracting or self-employment role
- be for an immediate family member.
What can I expect from the prospective employees?
At Incentive Employment, we pride ourselves on the quality of our service and ability to find staff that are a perfect fit for your business. We promise to add value to your hiring experience and your business by taking the risk and pain out of hiring by sourcing a large pool of eligible and suitable candidates for your role and business.
We are not a standard employment agency – in fact we source the pool of candidates we present to you from many agencies. We conduct thorough, multilayered, and prompt screening of large numbers of local candidates to ensure a perfect fit to your business.
Choosing Incentive Employment means we will work to develop a long-term relationship with you, and to strive for win–win outcomes for you and your employee, always. We will also maintain a supportive and mentoring relationship with your new employee throughout their development.
The job seekers we will put forward will meet eligibility criteria by being aged 15 to 24, and having been registered with us for at least six months.
We can also help you receive the Youth Bonus Wage for hiring eligible young people for apprenticeships and traineeships, and those who have completed the National Work Experience Programme.
What you can expect from Incentive Employment
We do not operate on a commission basis. Our service to you is free because our fees are drawn from the government.
Our biggest fees come from placing people for 26 weeks of employment, meaning our interests are aligned with yours and those of the candidates.
